Sudan Marine Parks is managed through a collaborative governance consortium anchored by the Wildlife Conservation Foundation (WCF), which holds the legal mandate for both Sanganeb Marine National Park and Dungonab Bay–Mukkawar Island Marine National Park under Sudan’s Wildlife and Hunting Act 1986.
The consortium brings together national government bodies, civil society organisations, and academic institutions in a co-management framework designed to integrate scientific monitoring, community participation, and international conservation programmes. Formal partner relationships are governed by memoranda of understanding and programme agreements approved by the WCF and, where required, by the National Committee for the World Heritage Site.
The Sudan Marine National Parks logo is the official visual brand of the UNESCO World Heritage site, adopted by the Wildlife Conservation Foundation (WCF) following consultation with park stakeholders. The design brings together the park’s most iconic species — the Red Sea coastal bird, reef manta rays, hammerhead sharks, and sea turtles — unified by the wave form of the Red Sea. The bilingual identity reflects the site’s national and international significance.
Sudan Marine Parks welcomes partnerships that strengthen conservation, science, and community wellbeing within and around the parks. We invite expressions of interest from research institutions, NGOs, and funding organisations whose priorities align with the parks’ Integrated Management Plan.
Send us an expression of interest
Tell us your organisation’s name, country, type of partnership you have in mind, and a brief description of your relevant work. We review all enquiries and aim to respond within four to six weeks.
Submitting an expression of interest does not constitute a partnership agreement. All partnerships require a formal memorandum of understanding with the Wildlife Conservation Foundation and, where applicable, approval by the MPA Advisory Committee.
